At Bishopswood school each of our classes in the primary school participate in a weekly Relax Kids session led by accredited Relax Kids coach, Fiona Brimson. These sessions use the award winning Relax Kids programme following seven steps to relaxation. We start our sessions harnessing the children’s natural energy with movement and dance. Then we have fun learning new games to play. After this we practice simple yoga stretches, massage and learn breathing techniques. The final part of each session is when children learn to use positive affirmations about themselves and then lie down and relax whilst listening to calming visualisations.
The sessions provide a unique way for children and adults to feel calm and nurtured whilst learning techniques that help children to learn to manage their feelings and regulate their emotions. It is a great way for both adults and children to feel calm and nurtured and most importantly its lots of fun.
