MENTAL HEALTH AWARD
Our Commitment to Mental Health and Wellbeing
At Bishopswood School, we believe that mental health and emotional wellbeing are central to learning, development, and a thriving school community. That’s why we are actively working towards the School Mental Health Award, a nationally recognised framework that helps schools evaluate, develop, and strengthen their approach to mental health for pupils, staff, and the wider school community.
This award provides us with a structured pathway to embed best practices in mental health, ensuring that every member of our school community feels supported, valued, and equipped with the skills to manage their emotional wellbeing. By taking a whole-school approach, we aim to:
✔ Create a culture of awareness and acceptance, reducing stigma and supporting emotional regulation.
✔ Develop effective strategies for staff and pupil wellbeing, improving resilience and engagement.
✔ Ensure all pupils, particularly those with SEND, have access to mental health support tailored to their needs.
✔ Strengthen partnerships with parents, carers, and external agencies, ensuring a collaborative approach to emotional wellbeing.
Through this process, we will work with specialist mental health coaches to develop a personalised action plan, ensuring that mental health and wellbeing remain a priority in our school’s development. This award also allows us to share best practices, engage in professional development, and continuously improve our support systems for pupils and staff.
Our pledge to prioritise mental health and wellbeing reflects our commitment to empowering and engaging every learner, ensuring they feel safe, supported, and ready to thrive—both in school and in life beyond education.
