I’m delighted to be in touch with you regarding an exciting England-wide fully funded music project for young adults with complex needs and their family members/carers, "Soundabout Life". Soundabout Life aims to support young adults aged 16-25 with severe and profound and multiple learning difficulties, and their family members/carers, during the transition to early adulthood.
Soundabout is a charity that uses music to empower and unlock the potential of people with severe and profound learning disabilities. You can also find out more about Soundabout on their website: www.soundabout.org.uk
Resources: a series of musical resources which offer ideas of how to use sound and music to support both musical and wider development. These are free to access and can be found on the Soundabout Families' website: www.soundaboutfamily.org.uk.
Soundabout Life (16-25 year olds)
Individualised music sessions: A family member/a carer supporting a young adult with complex needs can sign up for music sessions with a specially trained Soundabout music practitioner. Those joining the project are eligible to receive up to six Soundabout Life sessions a year, one roughly every three months, until the end of the project in summer 2022. The sessions will either take place online, in the family home or in a supportive living setting with sessions supported by a consistent care staff member. Applications to the Soundabout Life project can be made via the application form on our new Soundabout Families website: https://www.soundaboutfamily.org.uk/about-us/application-form/

Wild World Heroes Summer Reading Challenge 2021
The Reading Agency summer reading challenge takes place across all libraries from 10th July to 11th September 2021. This year the Challenge is celebrating nature and as they read, the children will help the Wild World Heroes save and improve their local environment.
Children are encouraged to read at least six library books of their choice over the summer holidays. As they read, they collect stickers (some smelly!) and rewards. If they complete the Challenge, they will be rewarded with a Wild World Hero medal, certificate and keyring and this year will be entered into a countywide prize draw.
