BSA committee members needed

BSA to close if no-one volunteers.

The outgoing chair of the Bishopswood School Association is sorry to say that nobody volunteered to join the committee at the recent Annual General Meeting and as the current Chair and Vice–Chair have handed in their resignations, and the Secretary reached the end of her term of office, the BSA cannot continue.  We will be holding a Special General Meeting o dissolve the charity unless some volunteers can be found.  Please think about the future of this charity, especially the fun times your children had at events we ran.

The BSA is our school’s main fundraising organisation, run by parents, staff and friends of Bishopswood School.  It has raised substantial amounts of money every year through our social events and funded the lease of the school minibus on the secondary site, a new outdoor play area and sensory garden for the primary children and donated funds for classrooms, specialist seating equipment, communication aids and sensory resources for the early years department at Valley Road.

We are extremely grateful to all the parents and friends of Bishopswood over many years who have helped to raise much needed funds, but with the increasing demands on the school’s now very limited budget, the role of the BSA has become increasingly more important in terms of helping to provide specialist equipment and resources for our children.  We will need to plan for the future and explore innovative and alternative ways of raising funds for the school as well as retaining the social and supportive element of the BSA which is vital in this present climate.

The BSA is a great way to get more involved in the life of the school, it is a way of meeting other parents and keeping our school community together.  I hope you are able to join us and share your views and expertise.  Please get in touch if you would like to find out more.
