PARENT PARTNERSHIPS & EVENTS

At Bishopswood School we believe that strong partnerships between home and school are vital to every child’s success.
We work closely with families to ensure that communication is open, relationships are positive, and parents and carers are actively involved in their child’s education and in school life.

Our aim is to build a supportive community where families feel informed, welcomed and listened to.
Throughout the year we offer a wide range of opportunities for parents and carers to meet staff, share feedback, and take part in learning together.

Parent Forums

We hold Parent Forums each half term.
These sessions provide an opportunity for parents and carers to hear school updates, discuss current priorities, and share views on future developments.
Feedback from our forums directly informs school improvement planning and helps us continue to strengthen provision for all our pupils.

1:1 Catch-Ups with the Headteacher

Parents and carers are always welcome to arrange a 1:1 catch-up with the Headteacher for an informal conversation about their child’s experience at Bishopswood.
These individual meetings are available by appointment and are a great way to share successes, ask questions or discuss ideas.

Parent Coffee Mornings

Our Parent Coffee Mornings are relaxed and friendly opportunities to connect with other families and staff.
They often include short information sessions, guest speakers or simply time to chat and share experiences.
We regularly invite external professionals to attend, such as therapists and support agencies.

Community Coffee Mornings and Workshops

We also host Community Coffee Mornings and Workshops at local venues, designed to strengthen links beyond the school site and make events accessible for all.
These sessions cover topics such as communication, sensory learning and emotional regulation, and are a valuable way for parents and carers to network and gain practical ideas for supporting their child at home.

Curriculum and Learning Workshops

Our teaching and therapy teams run regular Curriculum and Learning Workshops for families.
These practical sessions focus on key approaches used in school, such as Total Communication, Read Write Inc. Phonics, Zones of Regulation and other strategies.
Parents tell us these sessions really help them feel confident supporting learning at home.
