Spring Walk 2014
This turned out to be a pleasant, gentle walk through trees and across the golf course. The weather was dry, despite the forecast, and there were hints of sunshine towards the end.
Everyone enjoyed themselves especially the children who had an alphabet trail of animals to look for. It was a good turnout with 37 adults and children altogether and £84 was raised towards BSA fund raising.

We would like to thank the Greys Green Golf Course for allowing us to use their car park and paths.

Christmas Fayre 2013
A big thank you to
everyone (staff, parents, "ex-parents" and "friends" of the school who worked hard to make the Fayre such a successful day - this included work beforehand sourcing the auction and raffle items, selling raffle tickets, making cakes, wrapping gifts for Santa and MANY other jobs, small and big, which helped make the day a special one. It was also lovely to see so many families at the Fayre including those of former pupils at the school.

We also received a donation of £237.16 from the Santa's Grotto at Henley's Christmas Shopping Night (a big thank you to Kevin and Liina of KVB, Paula of Henley Town Council and the Dix family who made it possible). A collection at the Bird in Hand, Henley, that evening added £108.32 to that donation - many thanks to the generous customers!

Colour Run, Brighton 2013
On  14th September, at approximately 11am,  Team Juni, aka The Deeries, as part of a mission to raise money for Bishopswood (Ben Deer's school), set off on the 5K 'Colour Run', held on Madeira Drive, Brighton.

The team consisted of 4 members of the Deer clan, Jon and Barbara (Ben's parents), Lisa (Ben's aunt) and undoubtedly the star, and proud captain, 8 year-old cousin Juni . The event proved very popular, with more than 6,000 enthusiastic fundraisers. Runners were systematically pelted with powdered paint at every 'colour' station, each of these stations representing a km landmark. Bearing this in mind, Team Juni stuck together, dogged determination and adrenaline willing them on, determined to be splattered with paint, and thus hoping to achieve their ultimate goals - to run the 5K without stopping and  to get as much variety of colour on them as possible. They did both...and Juni did so in style by sprinting the last 15 metres.
A thoroughly enjoyable day and all for a great be repeated...

The final total of money raised is : £1004 !!

The "Open Gardens" hosted by Woodlands House and Rose Cottage
raised an amazing £674.20! The BSA would like to say a big thank you to the owners of Woodlands House and Rose Cottage for opening their lovely, really interesting gardens and grounds. A really BIG thank you to Darren Potter for all his hard work preparing the gardens and grounds and for supplying produce. Also thanks to his wife Cath for all her assistance and the toffee apples and to Barry and his wife (Rose Cottage) for their produce contributions.
Another really big thank you to all the staff, parents and friends who made such a vast quantity of delicious cakes. Lastly many thanks to the committee members, friends and staff who gave up their time to organise, prepare and help on the day.

Thank you as well to:
Toad Hall and Homebase for plant donations
the bee keeper at Woodlands House for the honey
Chiltern Edge School for the table flowers (recycled from their open day flower displays)
Berkshire Celebration for the bunting

There were cakes left over, as we didn't get as many visitors as we had hoped, but these were sold at playground cake sales on the following Monday - so the total amount of money raised went up by £66.25 to a final total of £740.45.

Henley Regatta for the Disabled 2013
The B.S.A. had a stall at the event which proved to be quite popular with a tombola (every ticket gets a prize was a winning formula), "Name the Teddy" competition and "Adopt a Teddy" which raised over £79. The Mayor of Henley had a go at Name the Teddy but wasn't the winner.
Many thanks to all those who donated teddies and tombola prizes, to those who helped to organise and to help on the day AND to all the adults and children who visited the stall.

The fantastic sum of £914.65 was raised by the event.

    and fun too:
The event is primarily a unique opportunity for families, friends and staff to enjoy a relaxed social opportunity, however it did help to fund raise £914.65! Thanks to all those who supported the BBQ and made it such a successful event.

RAF BENSON Moped of Hope

Bishopswood parent Corporal Dean Bristow and his team of moped riders will set off on a ‘Moped of Hope’ on 24th June 2013. The team will ride from RAF Benson to Lands End, Cornwall, and back in convoy to raise money for the   school. The pupils at Bishopswood School have severe and complex special educational needs which require a variety of costly specialised equipment, so are hugely grateful for the support that is being given by RAF Benson.

The team of mopeds will ride in convoy, stopping at various military bases along the way - all of which have pledged their support. Donations will be collected throughout their journey. To donate please contact the school office or visit the My Donate fundraising webpage

Spring Walk 2013

Sunday 12th May 2013

This was the best turn out since the annual walk was started, with nearly 40 adults (only 1 member of staff) and children turning up for the walk despite the weather forecast. A route had been set with the challenge of finding 20 animal signs in alphabetical order. Louisa's brother Charlie was really motivated by this and he walked the whole distance! Primary department classes were represented by George, Alice, Caroline, Cameron, Louisa and Molly plus one ex-pupil came -Amy.

Delicious home-made cakes and biscuits  (Thanks to Janet Buckingham and Davina Turnbull), fruit and drinks were provided at the end of the walk. The walk was well timed with lots of bluebells to be seen!

Many thanks to Greys Green Golf Course for welcoming us to their paths and free parking. The owner of Greys Green Farm was around at the end of the walk and he contributed a donation. The sum of £107 was raised. Well done all those who came and those who brought donations from friends and relatives.

Christmas Fayre 2012

The Christmas Fayre was another very successful event. The committee and other parents, staff and friends worked hard to ensure there were lots of raffle prizes, items for the auction and lots of goodies for the various stalls. The event was well attended by families and fun for the children. The total raised was £3,276 which was fantastic. The  Henley Christmas Shopping event supported the school with the proceeds from Santas Grotto , thanks to KVB Design, and a donation from The Chocolate Theatre Company.

March Magic with Borderline Morris (March 2012)
A great evening attended by families, staff and friends (26 adult tickets and 8 family tickets were sold). A total of £341 profit was made! A big thanks to everyone who came and to those who couldn't come but still bought raffle tickets. Molly Clarke's grandad won the "Windsor Castle" voucher!

Borderline Morris were fun, full of energy and enthusiasm and soon had everyone joining in with some dancing.  Lovely to see former pupil Christina, and former headteacher Valerie Northfield at the event.

Bishopswood School Association Spring Walk       Sunday 29th April 2012

Henley Regatta for the Disabled 2012

The B.S.A. entered 2 teams this year: a mixture of parents, staff and their relatives and friends of the school. The teams came 8th and 11th. The Bishopswood Bravehearts managed to get their final race time to under 60 secs so they weren't far off the leaders...  A big thank you to all who took part. They all said it was great fun and would come again next year!

The Bishopswood stall attracted a fair amount of interest, especially the giant bear to be named. A total of £76.85 was raised by the activities on the stall. A grand total of £1,539.85 was raised - mainly through sponsorship.

The whole event was a great day out for families and there was a lovely atmosphere.
