One School - Three Sites!
Bishopswood School is co-located on three sites close to the border between Oxfordshire and Berkshire

Our Nursery Department
(Co-located with Valley Road Primary School)

The nursery is fully integrated, with the equivalent of eight full-time places available offered on a sessional basis for Bishopswood pupils in the Nursery Class.

There is a Bishopswood teacher, two learning support assistants and one lunchtime supervisor. A Speech and Language Therapist, Physiotherapist, Occupational Therapist and a Clinical Nurse Specialist support the the department throughout the week. We work very closely with parents and other professionals who look carefully and sensitively at each individual child's needs and consider where their future needs can be best met. Preparation for moving on to Primary phase of education begins when a child is four. Recent building work has added an extension to the entrance lobby, a Sensory Room, an additional multi-purpose room and hygiene area.

In Summer 2011, our Nursery was awarded an Outstanding rating from Ofsted, for its Under 3's provision, and In February 2013 Ofsted commented again on Outstanding aspects of provision at this phase.
Carol Parrey was invited to an event to receive Oxfordshire County Council’s “Excellence in Oxfordshire Award”.  This award has been given to Bishopswood Integrated Nursery in recognition of the ‘Outstanding’ Ofsted judgement in February 2013.  Carol has worked for Oxfordshire for over 36 years and has worked at Bishopswood since its creation.

Our secondary department
(Co-located with Chiltern Edge Community School - a Specialist Language College)

Our Secondary accommodation lies in the heart of Chiltern Edge school, allowing easy access to the dining room, main hall, and the wider campus.
We have a suite of classrooms. In addition we have well-designed hygiene and toilet facilities to meet the students' personal needs, a hydrotherapy pool and a sensory room.
We have use of the campus facilities including the library, science laboratories, main hall, drama studio, gym and sports hall and meetings rooms.
The hydrotherapy pool is used by both the Primary and Secondary Department, as well as post 16 students from Henley College Pathways department.

Currently individual students participate in mainstream English, ICT, Art, DT and PE lessons and all pupils benefit from sharing the canteen and other social areas, attending plays, concerts and the annual sponsored walk etc. Some provision, such as the accredited Countryside Stewardship course, for older students, is accessed off campus at the Little Wittenham nature reserve. Swimming sessions take place at the nearby Henley Leisure Centre, based at Gillotts School.

Our Primary Department
(Co-located with Sonning Common Primary School)

Each of the four classes are led by a teacher supported by a class team of learning support assistants and lunchtime supervisors. Regular volunteers help with activities such as swimming.
Classrooms are equipped with the latest ICT equipment including
Short Throw Interactive Whiteboards, Desktop PCs with touch-screens, and iPads, all connected to a wireless network.
Our Sensory Room promotes audio, visual and tactile interaction and provides space for a range of therapies. We use the Sonning Common Primary swimming pool and the community library as well enjoying access to extensive safe and pleasant grounds.

There is office space for the headteacher, administration and support staff, school nurse, multi-discipline therapists and the Out of School Liaison Officer OSLO).
A wide range of bespoke inclusion opportunities take place with individuals attending mainstream assemblies, break times, lunchtime and school outings. Mainstream pupils join our classes for specific activities and for lunchtime play sessions.
